Canadian Fitness Connection 新移民运动小组-Downtown

It’s a 12 week course with workshops and fitness activities to help new immigrants get healthier while also learning more about Canadian cultures and systems. Participants also receive a free 12 week YMCA membership while in the program. The program takes place on Saturday afternoons here at the Robert Lee YMCA. Participants should be Permanent Residents.
The next course is for men and women and is starting on Saturday January 4. Applicants have to complete and send back an application form to me – accessed here-  http://www.vanymca.org/cs/pdf/cfc_app.pdf
There are 20 spaces on the course. The first spaces are for immigrants who have been in Canada for the shortest period of time. The course is taught in English- CLB 3 and above is recommended.

  1. support our Kids Club program in Kits. Duties include assisting with/leading activities for the children (5-12 years) and snack prep. (Mon/Tue 2-6pm or 3:30 -6pm)
  2. support play group program for children birth to 5 years, whose families/guardians are able to connect while their children play together. Duties include assisting with set up/clean up, tea/coffee/snack prep and organizing craft activities for the children. (Mon 9am-12pm)

**A criminal record check is required if you are over 18, we can help with that.

We are looking for 3 volunteers to plan and facilitate weekly conversation groups to English Language Learners so that they can improve their English language skills and get to know their community better.

ECC Volunteer Hosts will participate in 2 mandatory orientation sessions in January 2014 (exact date/time TBA), hosts will run an ECC 1.5-hours/week for 10 weeks with up to 8 participants, there will be simple reports to fill out on a monthly basis and attend 3-4 meetings per ECC session with the Volunteer Programmer.
