Canadian Fitness Connection 新移民运动小组-Downtown

It’s a 12 week course with workshops and fitness activities to help new immigrants get healthier while also learning more about Canadian cultures and systems. Participants also receive a free 12 week YMCA membership while in the program. The program takes place on Saturday afternoons here at the Robert Lee YMCA. Participants should be Permanent Residents.
The next course is for men and women and is starting on Saturday January 4. Applicants have to complete and send back an application form to me – accessed here-  http://www.vanymca.org/cs/pdf/cfc_app.pdf
There are 20 spaces on the course. The first spaces are for immigrants who have been in Canada for the shortest period of time. The course is taught in English- CLB 3 and above is recommended.

Community Service Assistant Training Certificate program

• Unemployed, not in receipt of Employment Insurance in the past three years
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Be living in British Columbia
• Not a Student (i.e. enrolled in high school or enrolled in post secondary training)
• Not currently participating in another LMA funded program
• Experiencing difficulties securing employment due to lack of skills training

Volunteer – Library Champions

The NewToBC Library Champions Project is looking for new immigrants living in Vancouver with an interest and passion for libraries!

Library Champions will be provided training to understand the full range of resources and services available at libraries for new immigrants and to improve their communication and presentation skills. Champions will then reach out into the community to share this information with other newcomers and encourage them to become library users.

Employment Skills Access Program -VCC

Through the Employment Skills Access (ESA) program, participants (new immigrants) with professional or business background will gain new skills that will improve their employment opportunities in the job market. Training provided by the ESA program is free of charge.  Interested? FREE Business Skills Training program @BCIT

British Columbia Labour Market Agreement with the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia, to offer a 7th intake of the Business Skills Training program. The program is scheduled to start on August 26, 2013. Please see attached for program details. All interested and eligible applicants will have the opportunity to apply and learn more about our program at our information session.
